The Process of Cupping

Preparation

Client is assessed and consent obtained with benefits and risks explained. Strict hygiene standards adhered to with  all equipment sterilized . Disposable gloves used to prevent infection.

Application of Cups

Identify cupping / hijama points for this session. Apply the cups and create the vacuum. If wet cupping remove the cup and make superficial incisions. Replace or remove the cups in 5 to 15 minutes collecting and disposing of any blood appropriately.

Post-cupping Care

The cups are gently removed and if wet cupping the blood is carefully collected and disposed of. Aftercare instructions provided to the client, including advice on cleaning, avoiding extreme temperatures, and staying hydrated.

Locating the hijama points on the body can be difficult so we’ve provided some free resources for you to use that you can refer back to.  Hijama / Cupping therapists will thank us for this !

  • Face
  • Back of the body
  • Front of the body
  • Legs

The standard points can help with many issues but over time we found that by treating the body more holistically and using our understanding of the linkages in physiology, acupuncture, acupressure, and energy pathways we were able to identify other hijama points that accelerate healing and provide  more permanent, longer term benefits.

The body is made of many system and each has a key role to play, for instance the circulatory system delivers blood, the lymphatic system removes waste, the nervous system provides two way communication to the brain – taking into consideration all of these areas helped us to determine some of the best points to use to trigger, accelerate, and support healing for specific issues.
